Overview

Bane NOR SF, the state-owned railway infrastructure manager, focuses exclusively on securing and modernising the electrical supply systems underpinning Norway's rail network. Their concession portfolio spans converter station renewals, expansions, and new builds — notably at Nelaug, Jessheim, Hamar (Jessnes), and Smørbekk — alongside decommissioning of legacy facilities in Bergen and Sande that have been superseded by upgraded infrastructure. Strategic Focus

In July 2026, Bane NOR's application to decommission the 55 kV line between Sande, Hakavik, and Sundet progressed to public hearing (Høring) stage, indicating the legacy Sande transformer station infrastructure is nearing formal retirement as part of the ongoing network rationalisation programme.
