Overview

Ringerike has attracted an extraordinary concentration of datacenter investment, with ten queue positions totalling over 814 MW of consumption capacity from operators including atNorth, Green Mountain, Stack, Odin Green DC, Bulk, and Acrem — all targeting the Ringerike transformer station. Industrial consumers Billerud Korsnäs and Biojet add another 110 MW of consumption demand. On the production side, activity is limited: two solar applications (Sokna 15 MW and Marigaard 41 MW) were withdrawn in early 2025, and no active production concessions remain, highlighting a significant imbalance between consumption growth and local generation.

Recent Activity

In late June 2025, Bulk Data Centers AS added a 135 MW consumption reservation to the queue at Ringerike TRA, further deepening the already substantial datacenter pipeline at this node. This is the most recent addition to what is now one of Norway's most congested single-substation consumption queues.
